CSA & PACKHOUSE MANAGER- POSITION AVAILABLE: MARCH 2, 2026

 Woodland Gardens is an established, mid-sized, certified organic fruit, vegetable and cut flower farm in Athens, Georgia.  We have an opening for a CSA & Packhouse manager.  This position will report to Celia Barss, farm owner.  Experience is required, but more important to us is someone with the right fit and a professional commitment to the farm.  This is a rare opportunity to work with one of the area’s leading and long running farms.  Our field production team has very little turnover, so you will be part of an established and skilled team.  With time, this position could easily grow to take on more responsibility for greater farm management.

 Responsibilities and Expectations

 I. On- Farm Management

a.       Assist farm owner in coordinating and executing primary harvest days.

b.      Help to maintain farm buildings and structures in an organized manner – manage the use and return of all tools to appropriate locations and ensure a general level of tidiness.

c.       Assist farm owner in keeping all needed supplies on hand (packaging, cleaning & office supplies, and maintenance supplies, etc.).

d.      Maintenance of small farm equipment and infrastructure.

e.       Assist farm owner in management of farm crew.

II. Markets and CSA

a.       Saturday Farmers Market – prepare van for market and keep van supplied each week with all supplies necessary for market, work the stand Saturday mornings (with one Saturday off for every 2 markets worked), operate register, help schedule & train market workers, help prepare all produce for sale.  You will be expected to interact in a friendly and professional manner while multi-tasking. 

b.      Manage, with assistance, all aspects of a 120–150-member, year-round CSA program – this includes some communication with members, limited bookkeeping.

c.       Coordinate and execute, with assistance, weekly Athens and Atlanta restaurant and/or CSA deliveries- load van, drive and deliver in a professional manner, maintain invoices and checks organized, wear appropriate attire for handling produce boxes efficiently.

III. Organic Production

a.       Work alongside farm crew in all production related activities – bed preparation, harvest, and general farm upkeep.

IV. Qualification, Requirements and Expectations:

a.       Experience with annual and perennial organic systems and production is required.

b.      Experience with delivery van driving and a clean driving record are required.

c.       Must be able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.

d.      Will attend 2 out of 3 markets in Atlanta on Saturdays (February-December).

e.       Will deliver to our Atlanta restaurants on certain Wednesdays (typically 2 Wednesdays/month).

f.        Weekly work hours may exceed 45 hours in peak growing times, less during non-peak times.  On average we work 45 hours/week during main season and 40 hours/week during slow season.

g.      Basic record-keeping skills are required, familiarity with Excel and a comfort with email.

h.      Ability to work alongside a diverse farm crew on all aspects of farm production – harvest, planting, weeding, maintenance is required; also, must be comfortable working independently.

i.        Must have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.  This is critical!

j.        Must be detail oriented.

k.      Some proficiency in Spanish would be valued greatly.

V. Compensation and Benefits

a.       CSA/Packhouse Manager shall receive an annual salary of $40,000.

b.      CSA/Packhouse Manager shall have the opportunity to join the company’s generous health insurance policy at no cost to employee. (Cost to farm is $800+/month)

c.       CSA/Packhouse Manager shall receive two (2) weeks of paid vacation, 5 paid holidays, 5 sick/personal days, as well as other opportunities for planned days off. 

d.      CSA/Packhouse Manager will have access to a SIMPLE IRA plan after one year of employment

CUT FLOWER MANAGER: POSITION AVAILABLE- February 23, 2026

b.      Coordinate and execute weekly Athens and Atlanta restaurant and CSA deliveries- load van, drive and deliver in a professional manner, maintain invoices and checks organized, wear appropriate attire for handling produce boxes efficiently.

III. Organic Production

a.       Work alongside farm crew and at times independently in all production related activities – bed preparation, harvest, planting, staking and general farm upkeep.

b.      Assist farm owner with proper care and maintenance of all perennials in winter months.

IV. Qualification, Requirements and Expectations:

a.       Limited experience with annual and perennial organic systems and production is required.

b.      Experience with delivery van driving and a clean driving record are highly beneficial.

c.       Must be able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.

d.      Cut Flower Manager shall attend markets in Atlanta on Saturdays (March-December) and will typically have 1-2 markets off per month.

e.       The Cut flower manager also assists with our restaurant deliveries in Atlanta on Wednesdays (alternates with 2 other managers).

f.        Weekly work hours may exceed 45 hours in peak growing times, less during non-peak times.  On average we work 45 hours/week during main season and 40 hours/week during slow season Basic record-keeping skills are required; familiarity with Excel and a comfort with email.

g.       Ability to work alongside a diverse farm crew on all aspects of farm production – harvest, planting, weeding, maintenance is required; also, must be comfortable working independently.

FIELD MANAGER- POSITION AVAILABLE: February 16, 2026

c.       Help to maintain all farm buildings and structures in an organized manner – manage the use and return of all tools to appropriate locations and ensure a general level of tidiness.

d.      Assist in keeping all needed supplies on hand for upkeep of field equipment

e.       Assist farm owner with coordination of maintenance and recovering of hoophouses & greenhouses.  Assist with other infrastructure maintenance that arises.

f.        Assist with maintenance of small and large farm equipment and infrastructure.

g.      Assist farm owner in management of year-round farm field crew when needed.

a.       Saturday Farmers Market – prepare van for market and keep van supplied each week with all supplies necessary for market, work the stand Saturday mornings (with one Saturday off for every 2 markets worked), operate register, help schedule & train market workers, help prepare all produce for sale.  You will be expected to interact in a friendly and professional manner while multi-tasking.
